The Georgia Lottery's mission is to responsibly maximize revenues for the educational programs we fund, and we're celebrating our 15th anniversary with some exciting news!
Driven by strong sales in fiscal year 2008, the Georgia Lottery brought its total amount raised for educational programs in Georgia since inception to $10 BILLION! GLC sales for fiscal year 2008 climbed to a record-breaking $3.5 billion and proceeds to education reached $858 million - both exceeding the amounts generated during fiscal year 2007.
The students of Georgia receive a portion of every Georgia Lottery ticket sold and remain the biggest winners in our history! Since the inception of the Lottery in 1993, more than 1 million students have had the opportunity to attend colleges and technical colleges through Georgia's HOPE scholarship program and more than 860,000 four-year-olds have had a chance to get a jump start on their education by attending a high quality Pre-kindergarten program.
This success would not be possible without your support.
While it is our mission to raise as many dollars as possible for the educational programs we fund, we always remind our players to play responsibly — it's all about fun.
Sincerely,
Margaret R. DeFrancisco
