ATLANTA – An Alma grandmother is celebrating a $52,000 Georgia Lottery win. Teresa Wilson recently checked a Win for Life ticket she purchased for the Feb. 16 drawing and discovered that she matched five out of six winning numbers plus the Free Ball.
Wilson, 51, claimed her prize last week at the Georgia Lottery's Savannah District Office.
"I was kind of pinching myself because I couldn't really believe it," she said.
Winning numbers for the drawing were: 4-10-13-37-39-42 and the Free Ball was 20. Flash Foods No. 0079, located at 3359 U.S. Highway 84 in Blackshear, sold the lucky Quik Pik ticket.
According to Wilson, who has two adult children and two grandchildren, she will use her winnings to buy a new car and purchase some land.
"I'm also going to shop for some new clothes," she said. "I'm going to enjoy it."
As with all other Georgia Lottery games, proceeds from Win for Life will benefit education in the state of Georgia.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned over $9.9 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs including Georgia's HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia's Prekindergarten Program. More than 1 million students have received HOPE, and more than 860,000 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
