ATLANTA – An Atlanta man won more than $92,000 playing Fantasy 5. Melvin Tookes, 58, matched all five winning numbers in the March 17 Fantasy 5 drawing and won a $92,638 top prize.

He purchased the winning Quik Pik ticket at Luella Station, 3248 Highway 155 South in Locust Grove, for his mother, Elizabeth. Winning numbers from the March 17 Fantasy 5 drawing were: 2-8-28-30-36. After the drawing, with his mother on the telephone, Tookes checked the numbers at the store where he purchased the ticket.

"My mother said, 'This can't be true,' " he said. "I couldn't get any sleep."

Tookes and his mother play the lottery because of the educational programs it funds. His daughter received a lottery-funded HOPE Scholarship to attend Albany State University's nursing program.

The family has no immediate plans for their winnings, Tookes said.

"I think I gave my mom a bit of good luck," he quipped.

Georgia Lottery retailers selling winning Fantasy 5 tickets receive a retailer incentive bonus of $2,000. The retailer incentive bonus increases by $2,000 each time Fantasy 5 rolls. If more than one winning top prize ticket is sold, the retailers selling the top prize winning tickets will share the bonus. Luella Station will receive a $4,000 retailer incentive bonus.

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned over $9.7 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs including Georgia's HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia's Prekindergarten Program. More than 1 million students have received HOPE, and more than 860,000 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
