ATLANTA – Mirian Fuentes of Lilburn is a cut above with a jumbo lottery win. Fuentes, a hair salon owner, played the Georgia Lottery instant game Jumbo Jumbo Bucks and won a $500,000 top prize.
She purchased the ticket at Shop ‘N Go, 6083 S. Norcross-Tucker Road in Norcross. Fuentes, 42, said she discovered her win while in her car.
"I went crazy," she said. "I showed my son and daughter, and they screamed."
Fuentes and her husband, Marcos, have six children and two grandchildren. The couple plan to pay off their home mortgage.
"We will share some money with our children as well," she said. "It's a dream come true."
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned more than $9.9 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs including Georgia's HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia's Prekindergarten Program. More than 1 million students have received HOPE, and more than 860,000 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
