ATLANTA – A Georgia Lottery win has propelled a Powder Springs man to new heights. Samuel Bazemore, a computer support specialist for Maxim Crane Works, played the instant game Millionaire Jumbo Bucks and won a $2.5 million top prize.
“When I got to the No. 14, I saw the numbers then the comma and the zeros,” Bazemore said. “I almost passed out.”
He purchased the ticket at Snack Barrel #0010, 115 Ebenezer Road in Rincon, on his way home from work.
“I put my thumb over the amount and checked the ticket with the clerk,” he said. “When I removed my thumb, the whole store went wild.”
Bazemore, 51, and his wife, Lisa, have five children and three grandchildren. The couple, who have lived in the Savannah area for the past six months, will put their Powder Springs home on the market.
“I travel all over,” he shared. “My (parents) can be near my wife and children.”
He intends to use his winnings for his children’s college education.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $12.3 billion to the state of Georgia for education.
