ATLANTA – An Albany woman is celebrating a $1.7 million prize from the Georgia Lottery. Charlene Phipps, 30, played the new instant game Lady Luck 7, winning a $1.7 million top prize.
Sunrise Grocery, 1608 W. Broad Ave. in Albany, sold the winning ticket, and Phipps scratched it while at home.
The lucky winner claimed her prize April 27 at the Georgia Lottery District Office in Columbus.
“I got my husband and asked, ‘Is this real,’ ” she questioned. “It’s been crazy ever since.”
At the moment, Phipps has no plans for her windfall.
“I want to sit down and take it in,” she shared.
