ATLANTA – A Garden City man has hit a Georgia Lottery prize worth well over a half-a-million dollars. Lanard Govan, an industrial cleaner, matched all five winning numbers from the March 26 Fantasy 5 drawing, winning the $624,804 jackpot prize.
Govan, 53, purchased his winning Quik Pik ticket at 80 Quik Stop, 305 U.S. Highway 80 W. in Garden City.
He claimed his prize March 27 at the Georgia Lottery District Office in Savannah.
“I checked the (Georgia Lottery’s) mobile site, and I was shocked,” he said of his windfall. “I didn’t believe it! I called my wife, and she just smiled.”
Govan and his wife, Cynthia, still are deciding what to do with the winnings.
“We’re talking to financial advisors,” he shared.
The Govans have two children: a son, who is in college, and a daughter.
Winning numbers from the March 26 Fantasy 5 drawing were: 2-11-20-22-35.
