ATLANTA – Multistate jackpots Powerball and Mega Millions have continued to rise with each drawing. The Powerball jackpot is an estimated $149 million for Wednesday’s drawing. The Mega Millions jackpot is an estimated $106 million for Friday’s drawing.
The Powerball jackpot began rolling Aug. 5 and has rolled 10 times.
Powerball offers two jackpot payment options: the $149 million jackpot prize paid over 29 years in 30 graduated payments; or the cash option, which is approximately $94 million.
Powerball tickets are $2 per play.
Three winning tickets worth $5,000 were sold in Hapeville, Butler and Mableton from Tuesday’s Mega Millions drawing.
The jackpot has grown since Aug. 4 and has rolled 11 times.
Mega Millions offers two jackpot payment options: the $106 million annuity prize paid out as one immediate payment followed by 29 annual graduated payments; or the cash option, which is approximately $65 million.
It only takes $1 to play Mega Millions for a chance to win big. Players can multiply prizes with the Megaplier option for an additional $1 per play.
As with all other Georgia Lottery games, proceeds from Powerball and Mega Millions will benefit education in the state of Georgia.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $16.5 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.7 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.4 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
