ATLANTA – An Evans athletic director has received a plentiful prize from the Georgia Lottery. Martin Jackson, 56, played the popular Jumbo Bucks Classic instant game, winning an ample $50,000 top prize.
Jackson claimed his winnings June 6 at the Georgia Lottery’s District Office in Augusta.
The high school athletic director was is disbelief when he discovered his winnings.
“I just scratched it,” he said. “I had to double check it to make sure it was right.”
Circle K, 4649 Washington Road in Evans, sold the winning ticket.
Feeling good about his windfall, Jackson plans on buying a set of golf clubs.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $17.4 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.7 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.4 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
