ATLANTA – Thomas Garner of Pooler recently experienced a pretty cool stroke of luck. Garner won a total of $10,100 after playing two Extra PLAY scratchers, back to back.
JC Quick Stop Inc., located at 1024 Highway 80 E. in Pooler, sold the winning tickets.
Garner, a retired veteran of the U.S. Army, said that he was out running errands when he purchased the tickets.
“I bought two tickets,” he said. “I wasn’t really expecting anything.”
Although Garner stated that he was pleased with his $100 win after scratching the first ticket, he expressed that he was elated when he won the second prize.
“I won $100 and then $10,000,” he said. “I’m really happy.”
Garner, 65, said that he plans to use some of his winnings to take his wife on vacation for her birthday.
“We’re going to Orlando,” the lucky winner said. “It came at the right time.”
Garner claimed his prize last week at the Georgia Lottery’s Savannah District Office.
