ATLANTA – Georgia Lottery officials announced today that Georgia’s big jackpot games have grown even bigger as a result of robust sales. Friday’s Mega Millions jackpot has been increased from $445 million to $450 million with a $281 million cash option. Saturday’s Powerball jackpot has been raised from $550 million to $570 million with the cash option at $358 million.
This is the fourth largest Mega Millions jackpot and the fifth largest Powerball jackpot.
The Georgia Lottery-funded HOPE Scholarship and Pre-K programs benefit tremendously from the huge jackpots. From the start of the current jackpots through the last drawings, Mega Millions and Powerball have generated an estimated $10.8 million and $11.2 million, respectively, for HOPE and Pre-K.
Mega Millions and Powerball tickets can be purchased at Georgia Lottery retailers statewide. Georgia residents also can purchase Mega Millions and Powerball tickets via the Georgia Lottery app or online at www.galottery.com.
Georgia Lottery officials remind everyone to play responsibly.
As with all other Georgia Lottery games, proceeds from Mega Millions and Powerball will benefit education in the state of Georgia.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $19 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.8 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.6 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
