ATLANTA – Edward Wheeler of Waycross has won an awesome prize for his good deeds. Wheeler, a 63-year-old retired veteran of the U.S. Army, recently won $10,000 playing the Georgia Lottery’s LOTS of $10,000! scratcher.
The winning ticket was purchased at Mini Mart, located at 6832 Central Ave. in Waycross.
According to Wheeler, he was giving his neighbor a ride to the courthouse when he decided to buy a ticket.
“I wanted to stop and get something since I knew I was going to be waiting,” he said.
After he scratched the ticket in the parking lot while waiting for his neighbor, Wheeler said that was thrilled to discover that he was winner.
“I checked three times to make sure it was right,” he said. “I started driving the car in circles.”
The lucky winner said that he plans to use his winnings to buy a new motor for his boat.
“This is what happens when you do good things,” he said.
Wheeler claimed his prize Tuesday at the Georgia Lottery’s Tifton District Office.
