ATLANTA – Powerball is gaining steam. Saturday’s Powerball jackpot has reached an estimated $100 million.
Powerball began growing June 23 and has rolled 5 times. Powerball offers two jackpot payment options: the $100 million jackpot prize paid over 29 years in 30 graduated payments; or the cash option, which is approximately $61 million.
Georgia Lottery players are already cashing in on the excitement.
Two winning tickets worth $200,000 and $50,000 were sold in Hephzibah and Lawrenceville for the July 11 Powerball drawing.
The $200,000 ticket was sold at Sprint Foods #709, located at 3546 Deans Bridge Road in Hephzibah, and the $50,000 ticket was sold at QuikTrip #740, located at 5050 Sugarloaf Parkway in Lawrenceville.
In addition, more than 17,700 players won over $13,400 in prizes in the July 11 drawing.
Winning numbers for the July 11 drawing were: 19-21-27-46-47 and the Powerball was 7.
Powerball tickets are $2 per play and can be purchased at Georgia Lottery retailers. Georgia residents also can purchase tickets via the Georgia Lottery app or online at www.galottery.com.
Powerball players can multiply prizes with the Power Play option for an additional $1 per play.
As with all other Georgia Lottery games, proceeds from Powerball will benefit education in the state of Georgia.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $19.5 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.8 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.6 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
