ATLANTA – Jackpot fever is beginning to spread across Georgia as the Powerball jackpot continues to rise. Wednesday’s jackpot has grown to an estimated $750 million to a single annuity winner.
The Powerball jackpot has grown since Dec. 29 and has rolled 25 times.
Powerball offers two jackpot payment options: the $750 million jackpot prize paid over 29 years in 30 graduated payments; or the cash option, which is approximately $465 million.
In addition, two winning tickets were sold over the weekend in the March 23 Powerball drawing. One ticket worth $150,000 was sold online at www.galottery.com, and a ticket worth $50,000 was sold in Tallapoosa.
The $50,000 ticket was purchased at the Georgia Visitor Information Center, located at 701 1-20 E.
Each ticket matched the first four numbers and the Powerball. The $150,000 ticket multiplied its prize with Power Play.
Winning numbers from the March 23 drawing were: 24-25-52-60-66 and the Powerball was 5.
Winners have not come forward to claim the prizes yet.
Powerball winners have 180 days from the draw date to claim prizes.
Powerball tickets are $2 per play. Players can multiply prizes with the Power Play option for an additional $1 per play.
Powerball tickets can be purchased at Georgia Lottery retailers statewide. Georgia residents also can purchase tickets via the Georgia Lottery app or online at www.galottery.com.
As with all other Georgia Lottery games, proceeds from Powerball will benefit education in the state of Georgia.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $20.5 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.8 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.6 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
