ATLANTA – Mega Millions is picking up some speed! Friday’s jackpot has rolled to an impressive $750 million – the second largest in the game’s history.
The Mega Millions jackpot has grown since Sept. 18 and has rolled 33 times.
Mega Millions offers two jackpot payment options: the $750 million jackpot prize paid over 29 years in 30 graduated payments; or the cash option, which is approximately $550.6 million.
Georgia Lottery players have been winning big since the jackpot began growing.
One ticket worth $1 million was sold in Moultrie in the Jan. 12 drawing, and three tickets worth $20,000 (2) and $10,000 were sold online at galottery.com and via the Georgia Lottery mobile app. In addition, three more $10,000 tickets also were sold in Cartersville, Decatur and Stone Mountain.
Winning numbers from the Jan. 12 drawing were: 12-14-26-28-33 and the Mega Ball was 9.
The lucky $1 million ticket was purchased at Susie Q’s Foods, located at 135 Highway 319 in Moultrie, and matched the first five winning numbers.
The two $20,000 tickets were purchased online via galottery.com. Each ticket matched the first four winning numbers plus the Mega Ball and multiplied their prizes with the Megaplier option.
In addition, one $10,000 ticket was purchased online at galottery.com. The other $10,000 tickets were purchased at: BP, located at 263 Cassville Road in Cartersville; Kroger #303, located at 3479 Memoria Drive in Decatur; and Chevron, located at 1900 Rockbridge Road SW in Stone Mountain.
Each ticket matched the first four winning numbers plus the Mega Ball.
Winners have not come forward to claim the prizes yet.
Mega Millions winners have 180 days from the draw date to claim prizes.
It only takes $2 to play Mega Millions for a chance to win big. Players can multiply prizes with the Megaplier option for an additional $1 per play. Mega Millions also offers an optional $3 wager Just the Jackpot that allows players to receive two entries for a chance to win the game’s jackpot prize only.
Mega Millions tickets can be purchased at Georgia Lottery retailers statewide. Georgia residents also can purchase Mega Millions tickets via the Georgia Lottery app or online at www.galottery.com.
As with all other Georgia Lottery games, proceeds from Mega Millions will benefit education in the state of Georgia.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $22.7 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.9 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.6 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
