ATLANTA – Georgia Lottery players rang in the New Year winning a total of $2,338,734 in top and second-level prizes this week.
· One $2 million ticket from the Cash Explosion game was sold in Carrollton. The ticket was sold at Walker’s Grocery & Deli, located at 2672 Highway 5, and was claimed Dec. 28 at a Georgia Lottery District Office.
· One Georgia FIVE ticket worth $10,000 was sold in Stone Mountain for the Dec. 28 midday drawing. The ticket was purchased at Queen Dollar Plus, located at 4849 Memorial Drive.
· Two Fantasy 5 tickets worth $124,367 each were sold in the Dec. 29 drawing. The tickets were purchased at Kroger #456, located at 4400 Brownsville Road in Powder Springs, and Market Square Food Mart, located at 67 B Market Square in Newnan.
- Three Georgia FIVE tickets worth $10,000 each was sold in Athens and Smyrna for the Jan. 1 evening drawing. Two tickets were purchased at Maruti Food Mart, located at 115 Ila Road in Athens, and Shell Express, located at 2370 Spring Road SE in Smyrna, sold the third ticket.
· One Powerball ticket sold in Lithonia won $50,000 in the Jan. 2 drawing. The ticket was purchased at Circle K #209, located at 6429 Covington Highway.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned approximately $22.7 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.9 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.6 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
