ATLANTA – Winning a prize from the Georgia Lottery just before the Super Bowl is red, hot and wild, according to one lucky winner. James Gay, a Franklin resident, made a quick stop before settling to watch the big game and won a $27,777 top prize playing the instant game Red Hot & Wild 7’s.
Woodbury Foods, 10966 Millarden Road in Woodbury, sold the winning ticket.
“I almost fell out,” said Gay, who was in his car when he scratched off his prize.
Gay, 63, has four adult children and six grandchildren. He has worked nearly 28 years at a plant that makes fire retardant materials.
“Every five to 10 minutes I was looking at the ticket,” he said. “I was watching both the ticket and the TV.”
Gay anticipates paying off bills with his win.
