ATLANTA – A Fort Valley man has scored big in the Georgia Lottery. Larry Green, 59, played Fantasy 5 using his old football numbers and won $72,868.
“I used football numbers from jerseys,” he explained. “All the way from grammar school, every number I ever wore.”
Green purchased the ticket while visiting his brother in Milledgeville. He shouted when he discovered the win but attempted to control the celebration.
“I didn’t want to wake my neighbors up,” he said.
A father of two adult children, Green plans to share the prize with his family.
Green won the jackpot prize in the Jan. 29 drawing. Winning numbers were: 12-21-28-29-34.
Stop N Save, located at 844 W. Montgomery St. in Milledgeville, sold the lucky ticket.
Georgia Lottery retailers selling winning Fantasy 5 jackpot tickets receive a retailer incentive bonus of $2,000. The retailer bonus increases by $2,000 each time Fantasy 5 rolls. If more than one winning jackpot ticket is sold, the retailers selling the winning jackpot tickets will share the bonus. Stop N Save will receive a $2,000 retailer incentive bonus.
