ATLANTA – A truck driver from the hometown of former President Jimmy Carter has summoned a whopper of a Georgia Lottery win on Valentine’s Day. Kenneth Mooney of Plains has won a $3 million top prize after taxes, playing the instant game $3,000,000 Taxes Paid.
Danfair Express #0003, 402 W. Forsyth St. in Americus, sold the winning ticket. The store owner, who refers to Mooney as ‘Big Money’ may have served up a bit of good luck.
“He said, ‘See I told you that you’re big money,’ ” Mooney said. “It’s a good store, and they’re good people.”
Mooney, 57, is a short-haul truck driver who lives with his wife, Debbie. The couple have four adult children and nine grandchildren.
“The first thing I’m going to do is buy a new home,” Mooney exclaimed. “I’m going to buy a new pickup truck and put money in a trust for the grandchildren.”
The lucky lottery winner also mentioned hunting in south Texas for his next vacation.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $12.3 billion to the state of Georgia for education.
