ATLANTA – A grandfather in Winder has locked in an annual prize from the Georgia Lottery. Billie Wyckoff has won $104,000 a year playing the instant game $2,000 A Week For Life.
Wyckoff has selected the cash option, totaling $1,562,049 before taxes.
Midland Shell Food Mart, 125 E. Midland Ave. in Winder, sold the winning ticket.
“I was pumping gas, and I went back inside to buy the ticket,” said Wyckoff, 68.
Retired from General Motors since 2000, Wyckoff and his wife, Cassandra, are excited. The couple have two adult children and five grandchildren.
“I feel wonderful,” he said. “The only thing I want to do is invest, and I may keep some for traveling.”
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $15 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.6 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.3 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
