ATLANTA – A Cobb County man has topped three-quarters of a million dollars in winnings playing a Georgia Lottery instant game. Uriel Luna of Austell played the instant game Giant Jumbo Bucks – Anniversary Edition to win a $750,000 top prize.
Luna, 32, plans to share a portion of his prize with his brother-in-law, Juan Morales, who he says split the cost of the ticket.
CITGO Food Mart, 4640 Memorial Drive in Decatur, sold the winning ticket.
The lucky pair discovered the winnings, scratching off the ticket while in the store.
“I’ll probably just save and invest,” said Luna, a construction worker. “It feels great, exciting.”
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $15.3 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.6 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.3 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
