ATLANTA – Georgia Lottery Corp. officials announced today another strong quarter with record-breaking results in returns to education. Transfers to the State Treasury’s Lottery for Education Account will amount to $261,916,000, surpassing fiscal year 2014 third-quarter transfers by more than $17 million.
This is the largest third-quarter transfer in the history of the Georgia Lottery.
The total raised for education in the state of Georgia is now more than $16.2 billion since the lottery’s inception in 1993.
“We’ve completed another quarter, reaching another milestone for the students of Georgia,” said Georgia Lottery President and CEO Debbie D. Alford. “We are committed to building on our track record, and we will continue to put all of our efforts into maximizing revenues for HOPE and Pre-K.”
During the third fiscal quarter, the Georgia Lottery launched Jumbo Bucks Lotto, a draw game available only in Georgia; Max The Money, a new $30 instant ticket; and the Monopoly family of instant games.
The Georgia Lottery’s third quarter for fiscal year 2015 spanned from Jan. 1, ending March 31.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $16.2 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.7 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.3 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
