
ATLANTA – Marietta is on a hot streak. Two Marietta stores sold jackpot tickets worth a total of $901,628 for the Jan. 18 Fantasy 5 drawing.
Chester White of Marietta won $450,814 in the drawing. He purchased his ticket at Marathon Marietta, 855 Whitlock Ave., Marietta.
Chevron Food Mart, 1023 Sandy Plains Road, Marietta, sold the second jackpot prize. The lucky winner came forward Tuesday.
White claimed his prize Friday. He said that he was having an ordinary day when he got the extraordinary surprise.
“I didn’t think it was real,” he said. “I triple-checked my ticket.”
The 66-year-old communications engineer plans to use some of his winnings to purchase a new television.
Winning numbers from the Jan. 18 Fantasy 5 drawing were: 21-26-29-30-33.
Cobb County has been a hot spot with other recent big Georgia Lottery winners.
Gregory Whitaker of Powder Springs was awarded with a new Kia Soul during the Atlanta Hawks game Monday. He won the car in a Georgia Lottery Cash4Life second-chance drawing.
The winners of an $83 million Mega Millions jackpot from November came forward last week. They claimed their prize as ADirectConnection LLC of Kennesaw.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $18.1 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program.
